A Pause in Forward Movement:
On Healing, Holding the Frequency, and Engagement
February 23, 2021
Dear Earth Healers and fellow travelers/Shift Blog readers,
At a collective level, I see the ascension, disclosure, human potential and holistic health paradigms as also being at a fork in the road. My sense is that the collective vibration of these paradigms is wavering as a result of the weaknesses described in the [links to article referred to in the Blog]. The road that I am adding my individual energy to leads to a
rebalancing/integration of the light and shadow aspects of the human experience in a way that provides an energetic pull for humanity's collective awakening to its full potentials. In the absence of a new coherence in the energies of these paradigms, at best I see a neutral effect on humanity's collective awakening; at worst an energetic drag. What will it be? I really don't know, and suspect that the earliest we may know is when the aftermath of the upcoming
presidential election in the U.S. has settled.
At a personal level, as events unfolded after the U.S. presidential election and my observation that totalitarian and sectarian governments retain firm control over a significant percentage of the world's population, I experienced a dark night of the soul. The confidence I held that humanity is going to make a collective shift with Mother Earth to health and wholeness as individuals, global peace, and an
ecologically healthy planet was, and remains, shaken. In reflecting on my writing about the Shift I realized that my multidimensional understanding of reality has direct relevance for a small audience, and that my own commitment to supporting humanity's collective awakening requires a change in focus. I have reached some clarity thanks to deep and mutually supportive conversations with several friends who are both spiritually aware and engaged. What follows is my current
perspective on where Mother Earth and humanity are on their collective journey at this time, and ways I see to support forward energetic movement at the personal and collective level.
A Pause in Forward Movement. The catalyst for my recent dark night of the soul was a feeling that humanity's collective awakening had stalled. As I've reflected on information that subsequently emerged from
sources within and without, a pause in forward movement feels a better way to view the chaotic and conflicted state of the world today. The New Earth, or perhaps multiple New Earths, already exist in divine perfection. A unique aspect of the Earth Experiment is that Mother Earth and humanity have agreed, if at all possible, to make a dimensional shift together with humanity remaining in physical incarnation through the shift. The variable that introduces uncertainty into the
process is free will. In Shift Blog #44 (A Multidimensional View of the Coronavirus) I suggested that the pandemic is a natural consequence of the slowness of humanity's collective awakening. The pause in forward energetic movement requires us as individuals and collectively to shift the energetic focus inward and deeper to address the traumas and
wounds that are the source of the harm we do to each other and Mother Earth. Below I share from my own experience, and from my observation of fellow travelers, various ways that can open the way for forward energetic movement to resume. I ask that readers be open to which of the many possibilities resonate with your life circumstance and soul journey. Already happening? Wonderful! Something resonates that you hadn't considered? Explore it!
Getting from Here to There (1): Healing. If I were to name one thing that is required during the current pause, it is healing: healing at the individual and family level, healing multigenerational and ancestral traumas, collective healing at the national level, and healing the trauma of thousands of years of oppression of indigenous peoples, the powerless within ethnicities, and as a consequence of religious
conflict.
Individual and Familial Healing. Any situation that triggers a strong negative emotional response--anger, fear, resentment, guilt, judgement of self and others--presents an opportunity to focus inward to seek the origin of the hurt. I am grateful that so many healing modalities are available now. When we acknowledge a hurt/trauma and heal--there may be many layers to work through--we create an energy
that makes it easier for others with similar experience to acknowledge and heal. Blog #37 (On Creating the New Earth at the Family Level) speaks to familial healing.
Multigenerational and Ancestral Healing. I am heartened by the number of people and organizations that now have a focus on, or include opportunities for, joining together with others for individual, familial, multigenerational and ancestral healing. For brevity, I will name one that I find particularly meaningful in my life. The Sacred Earth Council has initiated a Four-Year Ceremony Cycle for Planetary Healing. The rock and mineral array pictured above was present during the February 7 Ceremony Healing the Sacred Womb.
National and Inter-Ethnic/Religious Healing. It's hard for me to see how forward movement in humanity's collective journey will take place until mainstream and popular media give prominent coverage to the many ways that are being developed at the local, national and international levels to heal political, racial, ethnic and sectarian conflicts. Kazu
Haga describes movingly how interrelated the personal and collective are with this endeavor in We need to build a movement that heals our nation’s traumas. Many good organizations are engaged in this work if you look for them (see Bridging Divides map below). What seems to be missing from my
perspective is a level of activity that reaches the attention of folks who aren't looking for it, and then say to themselves "That seems to be a good idea, maybe I can get involved."
Healing Mother Earth. The pause in forward energetic movement has given me the opportunity to reflect on the work the Earth Energy Healing Network in recent years. From 2014 through 2017 we were particularly active while activity slowed from 2018 to 2020. Something similar happened with a private Facebook group I administered called the New Earth Gridworker Community. The members of that
group agreed to close it at the end of last year due to lack of activity. In hindsight, the slowdown seems to reflect the lack of acceleration in humanity's collective awakening. The one new EEH project that was initiated at the end of 2018 was linking the crystalline and human heart grids, which I see now has served to energetically support humanity's awakening. With respect to Earth healing, my sense is that healing the harm we humans have caused, and continue to cause,
to Mother Earth's waters serves is a good way to also support humanity's awakening. More generally, down-to-earth engagement in replacing unsustainable energy and food production practices with sustainable approaches and protecting and cleaning up the environment are essential.
Getting from Here to There (2): Holding the Frequency. In Blog #43 I wrote about the importance of holding the frequency. There are places that hold the frequency of the New Earth all over the planet, at the individual, the family, community, and even at the national level (Finland comes
to mind as an example). Collectively, those holding the frequency provide a base level of support for humanity's collectively awakening. During this precarious phase of our collective journey, I see those who are holding the frequency as stabilizing humanity's collective vibrational level in a way that keeps it from going into a downward spiral. I'd like to express my gratitude to all who hold the frequency.
Getting from Here to There (3): Engagement. Healing releases energetic blockages in ways that create the potential for forward movement and holding the frequency gives the collective level of human consciousness a boost. Engagement lovingly tackles blockages to free expression of the human spirit at the densest level--oppressive economic, socio-political, and religious institutions--by speaking truth to power
and walking the talk at the local, state, national and international levels.
There is a large pool of individuals with the kind of conscious awareness to make lifestyle changes to significantly reduce humanity's global environmental footprint and engage in social and environmental activism in a ways that lead to meaningful change. Sociologist Paul Ray reckons that in 2008 there were about 80 million Cultural
Creatives in the U.S. and extrapolating the historic growth rate to 2020 suggests a pool approaching 110 million. Will enough in the U.S. and globally engage in a way that allows forward and accelerating movement? I don't know. My sense is that within the next ten years we will know one way or another.
I'd like to express my gratitude to all who are now engaged. If the idea of engagement, as I have described it, resonates, and you feel drawn to engage in new ways, please trust your own inner knowing for identifying how. When the biopersonality is willing, Spirit opens the way. I'll share a number of ways Spirit has opened the way for me:
News and Popular Media. Several years ago I shared in Blog #34 (On Reading the New York Times through the Lens of Unity Consciousness) my approach to engaging the mainstream media. I confess that during my recent dark night of the soul I had to stop reading the NYT for a while. Coming of age in the
1960s and actively involved in the peace movement into the 1970s and 1980s, I was well aware of the bias in the mainstream media in its tendency to under-report the abuses of corporate and governmental power in the U.S. and globally except when they are glaring enough to be deemed "newsworthy." I find the NYT's coverage of the news satisfactory for giving me a sense of the mainstream progressive perspective that speaks to many cultural creatives. I follow Nation of Change for an unabashedly radical critique of dominant power structures by cultural creatives, The Intercept for journalism that exposes corruption and injustice across the political spectrum, and Ethical Markets for following how cultural creatives are making inroads into the
dominant corporate culture. Whatever the news, my practice is to hold everyone involved with love my heart.
An Unanticipated Benefit of the Pandemic. In retirement our modest fixed income normally required careful budgeting. With the pandemic our expenses have dropped substantially and in combination with two stimulus checks, allowed us to donate more than $5,000 to local organizations that help those who are less fortunate, and a wider range of environmental and peace-focused
organizations than we are normally able to support. An added benefit is the number of newsletters I now receive that allow me to follow the good work of these organizations.
Activism for Social Change. Since I stood as a youngster with hundreds of Quakers at the Pentagon during a 1960 vigil for peace, the number of issues that must be addressed to create a more peaceful, just, and healthy world has grown. The number of opportunities to engage in activism to address the issues has also grown commensurately. After a hiatus of some 30 years, I felt called to engage in November last
year when the Unitarian Universalist Chuch in Bloomington set up a bell with a sign that says "For Whom do the Bells Toll? For Each Person Executed" and asked for volunteers to ring the bell for an hour on the days that a federal execution took place. Tolling the bell for an hour on seven days was both heartbreaking and a deepening on my own spiritual journey as I shared in a January FB post. While writing this, I realized that there have to be initiatives that aren't being covered by the mainstream media to bridge the divide that has fractured the country of my birth. An online search led me to The Bridging Divides Initiative which has created a Map that
identifies over 3,000 organizations working tirelessly to build community from the local to national level. When I zoomed in on the map to my own community, Bloomington, Indiana, there were a half dozen organizations identified, including several I was not aware of. Spirit gave me a nudge to get check out the local chapter of Braver Angels.
Connecting Networks. As the work of the Earth Energy Healing Network evolved, the "pattern that connects" became an important feature as different New Earth grids were strengthened through identifying common points for multiple grids and adding new common points. As individuals we can strengthen the energy created by networks of individuals focused on positive social and environmental change by
serving as a connection point between more than one network. My new perspective on human networks was catalyzed when I joined the Climate Change and Consciousness Network and I'm interested in seeing what emerges as I explore this idea with others.
What better time than this present moment to heal, hold the frequency, and engage?
Blessings, Love and Light,
Russell
