Great Shift Blog #38 On Reading the Energy of Words as a Form of High Sense Perception
January 14, 2019
Dear fellow travelers,
After sending out only three Great Shift Blogs last year, I'm receiving glimmerings from Spirit that they will be more frequent this year. As it turned out I made a start on three other blogs before the energies settled on this one. Since my first Great Shift/Earth Change Update Newsletter went out in August 2005 there have been 47 variously titled newsletters (including a period in 2009 and 2010 when I called it the "Pretty Good" Shift) and this marks the 38th blog. I had to smile on rereading that first newsletter by the energy of innocence and a touch of naivete that I sense in the words now. Over the years I have also shared the ups and downs of my own spiritual journey in the newsletters and blogs. For a while now I have not felt any real separation between my
own journey and our collective journey as humans on Earth, yet they provide different lenses to observe what is happening. Beginning with this blog I'm adding what may be a regular feature which I will call "Notes on the Journey," which shares aspects of my own small piece of the larger picture, while the named blog topic offers a somewhat larger perspective.
Notes on the Journey by a Fellow Traveler. Wayshower is a designation I often encounter in the ascension-focused consensual reality to describe folks who are leading the way in these transformative times on Earth. I don't remember when I first encountered the term after my own spiritual awakening in 2002, though I remember feeling at the time that
I was one. There was a feeling of exhilaration in going into what felt like uncharted energetic waters. Also a feeling of great aloneness. For me, the designation no longer feels right. It's taken some digging to trace the reasons for this in my own journey. In June, 2009 I changed the name of the newsletter with this explanation:
A bit tongue-in-cheek, I have retitled this month's Newsletter the Pretty Good Shift. My own journey of late has involved recognizing, bringing to the surface and releasing a virus of the mind that is aptly named The Chosen One virus. This virus runs deep in my ancestral lineages which are European as
far back as I can trace them, and foments the feeling that one has a "special" mission/abilities, one's work is "significant." My spiritual awakening in late 2002 activated this virus, and the very title of this website reflects it to a certain extent, though I trust not so seriously as prevent it from offering information that others may find useful..
In September, 2014 I began addressing readers of my blogs as Fellow Travelers rather than Great Shifters. I didn't articulate the reason at the time because I'm not sure I was aware of the reason myself. From my current
perspective I see the terms "Great Shifter" and "Wayshower" carrying a subtle Us/Them energy that runs counter to the "I" becomes "We" direction of humanity's collective journey. And this provides a segue into the main topic for today's blog.
Spoken and written words create an energetic response in those who receive them through a complex interaction between the meaning that becomes attached to them by common usage, the way in which they are used by the speaker or writer, and one’s own life (and perhaps incarnational) experience with the word.
I would like to focus here on the powerful energetic encodements that become attached to words through common usage. In my own experience as the vibrational level of planetary energies increases unhelpful encodements from common usage in the language we use to describes our own and humanity's collective spiritual journey are becoming increasingly apparent.
I will use as an example the words "sovereign" and "sovereignty." Within the ascension-focused consensual reality I have seen these words used as declarations of empowerment. A few years ago the words felt fine to me. What I missed then, but now see, is the deep patriarchal encodements the words contain from long usage when it described the power of kings during feudal times and more recently by nation states to
justify war.
Reading the Energy of Words as a Form of High Sense Perception. In my own journey of awakening I continue to function primarily by claircognizant high sense perception as I shared in Blog #6 (On High Sense Perception). The ability to sense the energy and encodements that words carry is a particular kind of high sense perception that has not been widely recognized. As with all other forms of high sense
perception everyone has the capacity to read the energy of words to varying degrees. My sense is that as self-awareness increases it becomes easier to read the energy of words.
Suggestions for Enhancing Awareness of the Language We Use. The section of the Great Shift ebook mentioned earlier focused on the ways I have observed the written word used to manipulate the emotions of readers, strategies for recognizing when that is happening, and ways to deal with attendant emotions in a self-aware way. I concluded that section saying:
[T]he task is to recognize mixed energies when we encounter them, harvest what seems useful and leave the rest. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, it all comes back to our responsibility to exercise discernment, discernment, discernment in all things.
Here I would like to offer some suggestions for applying discernment to the language we use to talk about our own experience and how we communicate with others:
- When communicating with others pay attention to the relationship between your emotional, mental and spiritual energy bodies. Language expressed when the emotional, mental, and spiritual energy bodies are in balance can have the effect of helping balance the corresponding energy bodies of those around us.
- Consider the relative contribution of the various energetic components of words that feel meaningful. What are the relative energetic contributions that come from common usage, personal life experience and the immediate context of the word?
- Be sensitive to how the life experience of a person being spoken to may affect how the communication is received. There are some words where personal life experience overshadows other energetic components. For example, the word "Christ" may have an entirely negative meaning for someone scarred by a fundamentalist upbringing and an entirely positive meaning to someone imbued in the church's mystical traditions.
- Pay attention to the patriarchal and hierarchical encodements that may be attached to words through long historical use. Are there alternative words that express the same concept that have a more neutral or positive energy associated with them?
- When good alternatives to a patriarchally encoded word are not available, such words can be re-encoded. This requires explanation of the how the word is problematic and that it is being used in a different way. If this is done enough times by enough people I suppose it could be possible to neutralize the patriarchal encodements.
In my sensing the words associated with the image at the beginning beautifully express the I and We aspects of Oneness (Blog #4). The words Pace e Bene on the tile pictured above is an Italian greeting from St. Francis and St. Clare of
Assisi meaning "Peace and all Good." This particular tile has an strong encodement supporting peace on Earth through the time it spent in my mother Elise Boulding's Hermitage in Colorado where she integrated a deeply spiritual life with peace activism as a grandmother of the twentieth century peace movement. The words provide further energetic support for a more peaceful world through work of the Pace e Bene Nonviolence Service in California.
In the meantime, the shift is happening. Hang in there. Stay grounded.
Blessings, Love and Light,
Russell
PS This blog is dedicated in honor of Sharrel Boike, the creator of the image that opens this blog. Sharrel recently passed on from the physical plane showing how it is possible to move through debilitating illness with grace and beauty.
